Special Story - Arts Center Receives $500,000.00 For Endowment

The primary venue for visual art is Valdosta’s Annette Howell Turner Center for the Arts. Serving five counties, this 17,000-square-foot facility presents new exhibits every six weeks in its six main galleries. The works of local, regional, national and international artists are featured. Its permanent collection includes a stellar East African art collection. The Roberta George Children’s Gallery features art by or for children. Programs include Youth Art Camps held June through July, art classes, Yoga and culinary classes. All classes are held in the Center’s classrooms and kitchen. A monthly movie night draws many from the community. The Turner Center’s Presenter Series welcomes four major nationally touring Broadway shows to Mathis Auditorium each year. The Turner Center also sponsors professional educational and theatrical presentations for children at area schools and at Mathis Auditorium.
