Summer Children’s Art Camp

The Turner Center for The Arts will offer four sessions of art camps aimed in teaching several verities of art each week.  Sessions will be held Monday thru Friday from 10 A.M until 12 P.M noon. Each session will have target age groups, with a maximum of 20 students per class. Art Camp is $50 per session.

Ages 5 thru 7 sessions will be held June 5-9 & June 19-23

Ages 8 thru 11 sessions will be held June 12-16 & June 26-30

Summer Cooking Classes for Children

These classes are carefully structured and planned so that the children are included in every part of the cooking process. There is an emphasis on safety, hygiene, nutrition and above all fun! In addition to recipes, tips, and sampling of all foods prepared, class fee includes basics of kitchen safety, proper table setting, and dining etiquette. All ingredients and equipment are provided and there will be something delicious to take home each class. Participants need to dress accordingly and wear flat, non-slippery shoes. Parents please notify Center, at the of registration of any food allergies your child may have. Each session is limited to first 12 paid reservations.

Teaching the classes is Pat Seco Cordova, former teacher of the Gifted and cooking enthusiast. Classes are $65 for three days, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. Each class will be held 10AM to 1P

Session 1

“Cooking...is Hot!”

June 5, 7 and 8

Ages: 12 and up

Pat will introduce teens to the fascinating world of cooking, using a variety of techniques and recipes ranging from very simple to semi-complex. Emphasis will be on fun and creativity. Participants will discover the different flavors and textures of foods, and will develop an interest in cooking by preparing dishes they can recreate by themselves at home.

Session 2

“Cool Cooking”

June 19, 21 and 22

Ages: 9-11

Pat will introduce children to the basics of food preparation emphasizing fun and creativity. Children will learn how to prepare “fancy” breakfast’s dishes, no-bake sweet and savory cakes and tarts, tasty summer soups, fun and healthy smoothies and much more.
